Production of negative working radiation-sensitive element for use as printing plate precursor, by applying radiation-sensitive composition comprising solvent mixture

A negative working radiation-sensitive element is produced by applying radiation-sensitive composition comprising solvent mixture comprising (wt.%) 1-methoxy-2-propanol (2-9.9), a ketone with a boiling point below 130[deg]C (20-50), an alkanol with a boiling point below 120[deg]C (20-60) and ethyl lactate (10-30). A negative working radiation-sensitive element is produced by providing an optionally pretreated substrate, applying a radiation-sensitive composition onto the substrate by a slot coater, and drying. The radiation-sensitive composition comprises: (a) a negative working diazo resin; (b) a polymer with carboxyl groups soluble or swellable in an alkaline solution; (c) a solvent mixture comprising (wt.%) 1-methoxy-2-propanol (2-9.9), a ketone with a boiling point below 130[deg]C (20-50), an alkanol with a boiling point below 120[deg]C (20-60) and ethyl lactate (10-30); and optionally (d) additive(s) comprising stabilizing acids, colorants, plasticizers, surfactants, thickeners and exposure indicators. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a radiation-sensitive composition; and (b) use of a solvent mixture for producing a radiation-sensitive element.
