<p>A method of providing an elongate member (21) having an internal electrical conductor (4, 5) extending longitudinally therein with an electrode (A1, B1, A2, B2) comprises initially exposing a first portion of the internal electrical conductor at a location where it is desired to provide an electrode. A first electrode (A1, B1) is then formed on an external surface of the member so as to be in electrical contact with the exposed first portion of the electrical conductor.This process may be repeated to provide a second electrode (A2, B2) that is in electrical contact with the conductor and is spatially separated from the first electrode (A1, B1). An ablation process, for example a laser ablation process, may be used to expose the conductor.</p> |
