Elongate base plates (2) are arranged with intervals on the upper face of a cushion pad (1) of a die cushion device for a press machine. A large number of hydraulic cylinders (3) are arranged at each elongate base plate (2) with intervals in a length direction of the plate. It is constructed such that oil in an oil tank (20) is delivered to hydraulic chambers of the large number of the hydraulic cylinders (3) through a hydraulic pump (21). An elongate high-pressure container (41) for storing pressurized oil is communicated with each of the hydraulic chambers. The high-pressure container (41) is arranged between adjacent elongate base plates (2, 2).
