摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which is suitable for reproduction of a signal using a magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head and in which a high electromagnetic conversion characteristic can be obtained even when magnetic layers are made thin. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer deposited with film thickness 30-55 nm by vacuum thin film depositing technology on a non-magnetic supporting body, a boundary oxidized layer of which the oxidation degree A/B being a ratio of oxygen atomic concentration A and cobalt atomic concentration B is 0.45 or more and thickness is 10 nm or more, a surface oxidized layer which is one part of an opposite side to the non-magnetic supporting body of the magnetic layer and of which the oxidation degree is 0.45 or more and thickness is 10 nm or less, and a region of which the oxidation degree between the boundary oxidized layer and the surface oxidized layer is less than 0.45. The upper limit of thickness of the boundary oxidized layer is a value within a range in which product Mr×t of residual magnetization Mr and thickness t is 3mA to less than 30mA.
