PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide vertical sludge/waste treatment equipment realizing energy saving and requiring only a small space to solve the problem that specific chemical substances or dioxins are produced due to the limitation of a dumping site for sludge/waste or its combustion as there is no proper treatment method for substances, including the specific chemical substances, chemical substances, and the like. SOLUTION: The chemical substances, including the specific chemical substances contained in the sludge or the waste are sequentially treated before the combustion. The vertical sludge/waste treatment equipment can be automated and mounted with labor-saving autonomous control software, requires no large space owing to its vertical structure, realizes energy saving, and is maintained at low cost. Ceramic balls with the substances, including the chemical substances, or biological elements for treatment purposes adsorbed thereto are put into respective mixing layers.
