A rod body of tubular shape forming a fishing rod and the fishing rod formed of a fiber-reinforced resin material capable of producing an excellent state of the rod, the rod body comprising a main layer of a prepreg material formed by soaking a synthetic resin in fiber-reinforced fibers such as carbon fibers or glass fibers, a weight layer of a hyperbaric prepreg material stacked on the main layer, and a coating layer of a paint material coated on the outer peripheral surfaces of the main layer and the weight layer, wherein the weight layer occupies 5 to 50 wt.% of the total weight of the rod body and, particularly, the weight layer is desirably present in either of the antinode portion and node portion thereof in resonant condition.
