PETROLEUM RESIN, PRODUCTION PROCESS THEREFOR, AND ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS

A petroleum resin which comprises 30 to 95 wt% of units derived from one or more C4-6 olefinic unsaturated hydrocarbon monomers and 70 to 5 wt% of styrene units, characterized by having a melt hue of 4 or below in terms of Gardner color number, a softening point of 60 to 130°C, and a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000 to 10,000; and adhesive compositions comprising the petroleum resin and thermoplastic polymers. The adhesive compositions are excellent in color tone and adhesive property, thus being favorably usable for sanitary supplies and food packaging.
