<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a rice cake which does not adhere to a vessel, other food materials, and the like, when it is softened by heating, by preventing adhering to the vessel, other food materials, and the like, when the rice cake is softened by heating the same for cooking. <P>SOLUTION: This rice cake is prepared by covering the surface of a rice cake (1) with a layer (2) of a food grain except glutinous rice such as wheat, rice to prevent the rice cake (1) from contacting to the vessel or the other food materials, and the like. Thus, the rice cake (1) does not adhere to the vessel, the other food materials, and the like, when the rice cake (1) is softened by heating the rice cake (1).
