PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image of high picture quality without impairing productivity and without being affected by a color sort of an original in an image processor capable of performing ground color removing processing.

SOLUTION: A ground color removing part 402 has a color image ground color removing part 402C and a monochromatic image ground color removing part 402LL. A ground color picture signal detection part 102a detects a ground color picture signal DAE on the basis of picture data Lab. An LUT 102C to which a conversion parameter suited to color images is allocated converts the ground color picture signal DAE into a color ground color picture signal DAEC. An LUT102LL to which a conversion parameter suited to monochromatic images is allocated converts the ground color picture signal DAE into a monochromatic ground color picture signal DAELL. The ground color removing processing part 402C performs ground color removing processing matching the characteristics of a color original on the basis of the ground color picture signal DAEC. The ground color removing processing part 402LL performs ground color removing processing matching the characteristics of a monochromatic original on the basis of the ground color picture signal DAELL.
