PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the flushing efficiency of piping between units. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises an outdoor unit 1 in which a compressor 20 and an outdoor heat exchanger 24 are disposed in an outdoor refrigerant pipe 19, indoor units 12A and 13B in which an indoor heat exchanger 18 and an indoor electronic expansion valve 17 are disposed in an indoor refrigerant pipe 16, and the pipe 15 between the units connecting the outdoor refrigerant pipe 19 to the indoor refrigerant pipe 16 and having a gas pipe 13 and a liquid pipe 14. An outdoor control device 41 is formed to controllably return refrigerator oil remaining in the gas pipe 13 to the outdoor unit 11 side by generally fully opening the indoor electronic expansion valve 17, performing cooling operation, and flowing liquid refrigerant into the gas pipe 13.
