PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Ni-galvanized steel sheet for battery cans which is excellent in corrosion resistance, slidability and contact resistance. SOLUTION: The Ni-galvanized steel sheet is characterized in that it has an Fe-Ni diffusion layer or both an Fe-Ni diffusion layer and a recrystallized and softened Ni-galvanized layer formed thereon on a surface of the sheet which coincides with the outer surface of a battery and it further has a rolled Ni-galvanized layer containing a gloss additive or a rolled Ni-galvanized layer containing a semigloss agent on the above layer. It is desirable that the adherent amount of a Ni-galvanized layer containing the gloss additive or semigloss additive is at least 0.5 g/m2and not more than the amount of Ni in the lower layer (Ni amount of the Fe-Ni diffusion layer or the total Ni amount of the Fe-Ni diffusion layer and the recrystallized and softened Ni-galvanized layer formed on the layer).
