PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage and an inkjet type recording device equipped with this carriage which enables smooth setting and separation of an ink cartridge, and can supply all ink in the ink cartridge. SOLUTION: A cartridge holder 50 has a holder part 51 for holding the ink cartridge inserted nearly horizontally from an opening side face portion 52a, a fixing cover part 52 which moves up and down to fix or release the ink cartridge 152 held in the holder part, and a cover lever mechanism 53 which moves the fixing cover part up and down. After the ink cartridge holder is inserted horizontally from the opening side face portion of the holder part, the ink cartridge is moved down within the holder part and united with an ink supply needle. Or, after the ink cartridge holder is moved up once within the holder part and separated from the ink supply needle, the ink cartridge can be pulled out horizontally from the opening side face portion of the holder part.
