The present invention provides a method of screening a compound that increases the open probability of a KACh channel in a mammalian cell membrane in a heart and a method of treating cardiac disease in a subject, comprising administering a compound that increases the open probality of KACh channels in the heart. Also provided is a compound that treats cardiac disease.
