GREEN LIGHT-EMITTING FLUORESCENT MATERIAL AND FLUORESCENT LAMP USING SAME

A green light-emitting fluorescent material having a composition expressed by the general formula: (1) CaY1-xTbxAlO4 (wherein 0.005 <= x <= 0.5); (2) CAY1-x-yTbxReyAlO4 (wherein Re is Gd and/or La, 0.005 <= x <= 0.5, and 0.1 <= y <= 0.7); OR (3) CAGD1-x-yLayTbxAlO4 (wherein 0.005 <= x <= 0.5 and 0 <= y <= 1-x) is disclosed. A fluorescent lamp using such a fluorescent material is also disclosed. The green light-emitting fluorescent material efficiently absorbs lights when a ultraviolet light (254 nm) of the mercury emission line is used as an excitation source, is short in the duration of afterglow, and emits a green light. The fluorescent lamp has a short response time.
