<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which saves on space and energy, and controls the temperature of a heat source and the temperatures of its surroundings. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus exposes the surface of an image carrier 4a to write a latent image thereon, develops the latent image with developer containing toner, and transfers and fixes the thus formed toner image to recording paper, thereby obtaining an image. The image forming apparatus includes: the heat source 12 which supplies heat necessary for the image forming process; one or more heat exchangers 16 between the heat source 12 and a protection section 2 protected from the heat source 12; and a space 14 which prevents air from staying around the heat exchangers 16. The image forming apparatus also includes a control unit 16a which has a temperature sensor 17 for detecting the surface temperature of the heat source 12, and which adjusts an input current to each heat exchanger 16 in accordance with the output of the temperature sensor 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
