PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building block for building a non-mortar self-sustaining wall having substantial stability irrespective of whether there is a conduit inside or not. SOLUTION: The building block comprises at least one internal core 42, a secondary or terminal core part 46 and a connecting part 54 projecting from a surface and forming a part of at least the periphery of the internal core. Further, a secondary core or a seat is formed for receiving the connecting part when the block is arranged making its end abut with the end of the other block at the same height. When a first row of the building blocks arranged with their ends abutting is arranged alternately with respect to a second row of the building blocks arranged with their ends abutting, the connecting part 54 of one of the building block rows, and a secondary core, the terminal core 46 or a relatively large internal core 42 of the other building block row are paired, so that the adjacent block rows are connected.
