摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an information recording medium which provides an information recording medium having sufficient reliability in high recording density. SOLUTION: The substrate for the information recording consisting of a crystallized glass is used as the information recording medium mounted on an information recording device with the recording density of 60 gigabit/(inch)<SP>2</SP>or higher. The crystallized glass is what (1) contains a crystal grain with major axis-to-minor axis ratio of 3 or more, (2) contains the crystal grain consisting of enstatite and/or solid solution of the enstatite, or (3) is obtained by applying a phase splitting process and a crystallizing process, which heat within a range of (Tg-35°C)-(Tg+60°C), to a base material glass containing SiO<SB>2</SB>, Mgo and Tio<SB>2</SB>.
