PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ultraprecision machining tool for machining a cemented carbide forming die to be used for making a blue laser glass lens. SOLUTION: The ultraprecision machining tool for machining a hard-to-machine material comprises a base part 1 formed of a non-conductive hard material and a shaft part 2 fixed to the base part 1. A plurality of grooves 10 are provided in the peripheral edge of the base part 1 to form a plurality of cutting edges 11. The grooves 10 are preferably subjected to short wavelength laser machining. The short wavelength laser machining of the grooves suppresses the creation of a deformed layer, thus permitting the utilization of the machined surface in its shape as the cutting edges.
