PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for holding a nail in a nailing machine for nails, etc., by which the nail N, etc. can be easily loaded into a nose portion 5, and the nail N, etc. loaded into the nose portion 5 is prevented from tilting even if a nailing machine vibrates during nailing. SOLUTION: A chucking member 37 for holding the nail N, etc. inserted into a shooting port 4 of a nose 33 supported slidably, is rotatably supported by the nose 33 between the position, where a stem of the nail inserted into the shooting port 4 is gripped between the lower end portion 37a of the chucking member 37 intruded into the shooting port 4 and the wall of the shooting port 4, and the position, where the lower end portion 37a is retreated from the shooting port 4. In addition, the chucking member 37 is locked so as not to rotate from the position, where the nail located in the shooting port 4 is held by the chucking member 37, at the beginning of shooting the nail.
