PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for facilitating the work of removing a viscous substance or liquid waste containing the viscous substance from a vessel or the like so that the removed viscous substance or liquid waste can be burned easily at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for removing the viscous substance or the liquid waste containing the viscous substance comprises a step to mix a combustible and liquid-absorbable solid in the viscous substance or the liquid waste containing the viscous substance so that the liquid component of the viscous substance or the liquid waste containing the viscous substance is absorbed and involved in the solid and a step to remove the viscous substance or the liquid waste containing the viscous substance together with the solid afterward.
