<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure necessary power generation amount while controlling generator drive load during non four-wheel drive operation in a four-wheel drive control device driving main drive wheels by an engine (internal combustion engine), driving auxiliary driven wheels by a motor, and directly supplying the motor with electric power by a generator driven by the engine. <P>SOLUTION: It is judged based on motor demand torque and power generation amount of the generator if power generation amount is insufficient. If power generation amount is insufficient, hydraulic pressure of a torque converter in an automatic transmission combined with an engine is forcedly reduced. When hydraulic pressure of the torque converter is reduced, drive load of the engine is reduced and engine speed increases.
