<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology capable of manufacturing a superior material for a photoelectric converting element by easily forming a thin film of fullerene without spoiling its original property. <P>SOLUTION: In the presence of a calyx/fullerene complex obtained by including fullerene (e.g. C<SB>60</SB>) in calyx arene (e.g. calyx [8] arene) having anionic hydrophilic functionality (e.g. sulfonate group) at an upper end or lower end, a monomer (e.g. thiophene or its derivative) is subjected to oxidative electrolytic polymerization to form a thin film of a polymer derived from the monomer and the calyx/fullerene complex on an electrode, thereby manufacturing a fullerene containing photoelectric converting thin film.
