<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color shift, variation of color tone, or the like from occurring on a color image even if the belt is stained with toner or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer belt 10 is provided with scales 5 over the whole circumference, and also the transfer device is provided with a sensor for reading the scales 5, a normal speed control loop R1 for correcting the belt speed according to the actual belt speed detected from the information of the scales 5 detected by the sensor, and a control loop R2 used for abnormal time when the scales 5 are stained with toner or the like and abnormality occurs on the normal speed control loop R1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
