PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed air producing apparatus capable of performing stable parallel operation even when load fluctuates near the upper or lower limit of an adjustable range of an inverter-driven screw compressor. SOLUTION: This compressed air producing apparatus produces compressed air by performing the parallel operation of a plurality of screw compressors 1-1 to 1-5. Only one of the screw compressors 1-1 to 1-5 is composed of the inverter-driven screw compressor 1-5 adjusted in capacity by rotating speed control, and the capacity of the inverter-driven screw compressor 1-5 is made larger than that of the other screw compressors 1-1 to 1-4. Even when the load fluctuates near the upper or lower limit of the adjustable range of a capacity adjuster, the rotating speed of the inverter-driven screw compressor 1-5 does not fluctuate sharply between the minimum rotating speed and maximum rotating speed, so that stable parallel operation can be performed.
