PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing conjugate fibers easily splittable into finer fibers and good in hue while maintaining high splittability without altering the sectional conjugate shape with spinning time. SOLUTION: In producing the two-component conjugate fibers splittable into finer fibers by melt spinning, a polyester polymer obtained by polycondensation in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a reaction product from a specific titanium compound and a phosphorus compound is used as at least one the two components.
