PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle audio device capable of reducing troublesomeness of a volume operation by automatically decreasing sound volume to rapidly provide a quiet environment in a cabin when a room lamp is turned on, and automatically returning the sound volume when the room lamp is turned off. SOLUTION: This on-vehicle audio device comprises a room lamp lighting detecting means 1 for detecting existence of lighting of the room lamp 3 and a sound volume control means 2 for controlling the sound volume of an audio. When the device detects "lighting state" of the room lamp, the device stores the sound volume setting at this time and decreases reproduced sound volume of the audio. When the device detects transfer from the lighting state to a lighting-out state, the device performs control of returning the setting to an original sound volume setting for a certain period (eg. 5 seconds).
