PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas stove protecting a temperature sensor to detect temperature of a top plate, and controlling temperature of the top plate. SOLUTION: This gas stove is provided with a burner 2 of a surface combustion type provided to face the top plate 4 in a combustion chamber with subject matter placed on the top pate 4 at an upper surface, combustion gas supply means 14 and 15 supplying fuel gas to the burner 2, an exhaust passage 16 communicated with the combustion chamber at one end, and communicated with an exhaust port 5 at the other end, and a gas supply/discharge fan 6 to supply combustion air to the burner 2, and send combustion exhaust of the burner 2 through the exhaust passage 16 to the exhaust port 5. The subject matter is heated by heat radiation from the burner 2 through the top plate 4. It is also provided with a temperature sensor 17 provided in the exhaust passage 16 to detect temperature of combustion exhaust of the burner 2, and a combustion quantity control means 25 to control temperature of the top plate 4 by changing combustion quantity of the burner 2 based on temperature detected by the temperature sensor 17.
