PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic matter treatment apparatus capable of subjecting charged garbage, or the like, to treatment suitable for kinds of organic matters contained in the garbage. SOLUTION: This organic matter treatment apparatus comprising a treatment vessel for decomposing the organic matter contained in the charged garbage, or the like, by a microorganism and a regulating means for regulating the interior of the vessel to an environment suitable for decomposition by the microorganism is further provided with a selection means for selecting a decomposition mode corresponding to the kind of the charged organic matter and a control means for controlling the regulating means on the basis of the decomposition mode selected by the selection means.
