<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component discrimination method and apparatus which can accurately discriminate components, having terminals which are not necessary for centering at their corners, and increase component discrimination accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A photographed image of an sucked component is processed, and using this image processing, corner coordinates C1-C4 are acquired (step S5). When it is determined that corner terminals L1-L4 exist, based on these acquired corner coordinates, the corner terminals are deleted (step S6); and the center and the inclination of the component are calculated, based on terminals, after the deletion of the corner terminals (step S9). The accuracy of component discrimination can be enhanced, and the precision of component mounting can be increased in formation such as this, since the component discrimination is performed, after deleting the corner terminals which do not have any relation to centering and thus are not necessary for recognized discrimination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
