PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the irregularities of display of an active matrix liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In the substrate for display device, pixel electrodes 3, 3' are disposed at every intersection parts where a signal line 2 and a scanning line intersect each other and an interlayer insulation film 15 is disposed between the signal line 2 and the pixel electrodes 3, 3'. A source line 2 is disposed on the region where the pixel electrodes 3, 3' are not disposed, a gap is disposed between the source line 2 and the pixel electrodes 3, 3' and, further, a black matrix (light-shielding film) 8 with which the surface of the source line 2 is covered is piled on the pixel electrodes 3, 3'.
