PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire allowing improvement of maneuvering stability and corrosion resistance of a belt layer while improving productivity of a steel wire used for the belt layer. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire 1 has the belt layer 5 where rubber is applied on a plurality of steel wires 6 arranged in parallel. The steel wires 6 are formed as a bundled cord having a flat outline shape R by aligning, substantially without twist, N (N=2-5) strands 7 formed by twisting a plurality of steel wires P into a 2+M (M=1-7) structure. The flat ratio Ds/Dl of the minor axis Ds measured in the thickness direction of the belt layers 5 in the outline shape R of the steel wires 6 to the major axis Dl measured in the width direction is set at 1/N-2/3.
