PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone displaying an animation which is not set by an operator or information to be notified to the operator at the time of off-hook operation or receiving a telephone call. SOLUTION: The portable telephone comprises: a section 20 for storing at least any one item indicative of the number of received calls during a specified interval, the total number of redialed calls during a specified interval, or the number of registered telephone numbers, and a message and an animation corresponding to previously set values of those items; and a control section 30 for reading out a message and an animation being specified by the value stored in the storage section 20 and displaying it at a display section 10 for a specified time at least when a telephone call is received or off-hook state is brought about.
