PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposal which can rapidly and safely dispose a large amount of garbage and does not generate malodors, and a garbage disposal method. SOLUTION: The garbage disposal 1 is equipped with a garbage housing section 2 which has a side wall 3 extending to incline toward a perpendicular direction and the side wall 3 defining the internal space for housing the garbage, agitation blades which are disposed in the internal space and agitate the garbage, a heater 5 which is disposed on the outer side of the side wall 3 and heats the garbage through the side wall 3, a hot air heater 7 which supplies the gas for drying the garbage housed in the internal space and an exhaust fan 21 which exhausts the gas in the internal space to the outside.
