PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a hindrance of reproduction of reading of recorded information on a hologram recording medium due to deformation etc., of the hologram recording medium and a deterioration of S/N etc. SOLUTION: In the hologram recording method, a first laser beam L1 is optically modulated based on a digital data signal by optical modulation pixels exclusive of one part of optical modulation pixels composed of two or more pixels which retain a prescribed interval to each other of a one-dimensional optical modulator 14 and, at the same time, is optically modulated based on a sink signal by one part of optical modulation pixels composed of two or more pixels which retain a prescribed interval to each other. The signal light is thus obtained by the optical modulation. A hologram recording medium 1 is irradiated with the signal light and the reference light by means of a second laser beam L2 and a recording part based on the digital data signal and a recording part based on the sink signal are formed on the hologram recording medium 1. The reproduction is performed by irradiating the hologram recording medium 1 with the reference light and reading the digital data signal and the sink signal on the hologram recording medium 1. By using the sink signal as a position detecting signal, a positional deviation of the digital data signal due to the deformation of the hologram recording medium or else is compensated and the deterioration of the reproduction performance is avoided.
