A lead acid battery cell having at least two containments, an inner or first containment and an outer or second containment around the inner containment. The inner containment contains the electrolyte. The outer containment is leak proof in its upright position in that it can hold all electrolyte if the inner containment is breached. The outer containment is also fire-proof and explosion proof.
