The metal forming process has successive forming stages on a single machine with a workpiece transfer mechanism. Each stage provides a specific amount of forming of the blank (15). Within the machine there is a welding station (13) which allows an additional blank (16) to be welded to the first one. This reduces the amount of deformation to be made to the original blank.
