OPTICAL TRANSMISSION APPARATUS HAVING PATH TRACE FUNCTION

An optical transmission apparatus has a path trace function for performing check of path electrical connection in a synchronous optical transmission network. The optical transmission apparatus includes first judgment means for judging a path trace format of a conventional standard in according to detection of a first particular code contained in path trace data and second judgment means for judging a path trace format of a new standard in according to detection of a second particular code contained in path trace data. The optical transmission apparatus further includes third judgment means for specifying one of the path trace formats of the new standard in according to a content of a third particular code contained together with the second particular code in the path trace data.
