PURPOSE: A monitoring system having a recording device and a reproducing device separated from each other and a signal processing method of the monitoring system are provided to reduce complexity of the internal construction of the system and a bus bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring system includes a recording device(210), a recording medium(220), and a reproducing device(230). The recording device converts an analog video signal input from at least one camera into a digital video signal and outputs the digital video signal. The recording medium stores the digital video signal. The reproducing device outputs the digital video signal recorded in the recording medium to at least one display device. The recording medium is attached/separated to/from the recording device and reproducing device.
