摘要 PURPOSE: A vertically aligned LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having a biaxial retardation compensation film is provided to obtain high contrast characteristic and improve viewing angle characteristic of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: A vertically aligned LCD includes a biaxial retardation compensation film(14a,14b). The biaxial retardation compensation film has a plane phase retardation value of reversed wavelength dispersion characteristic and a thickness phase retardation value of normal wavelength dispersion. The plane phase retardation value is increased as a wavelength is increased in the range of visible ray. The absolute value of the thickness phase retardation value is a negative value and is decreased as a wavelength is increased in the range of visible ray.
