METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SLED MOTOR OF DISK DRIVE AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A method for controlling a sled motor of a disk drive is provided to decide whether a pickup of a disk drive abnormally enters a mirror area, and to automatically move the pickup to a recording area when the pickup enters the mirror area, thereby preventing a servo control time from being delayed in an abnormal mode. CONSTITUTION: A system decides whether an initial mode is executed(310). If so, the system monitors a peak level value of a tracking error signal(320). The system compares the peak level of the tracking error signal with a threshold level(330). If the peak level of the tracking error signal is smaller than the threshold level, the system generates a sled driving control signal for moving a pickup in outer circumference direction as much as an initially set distance, and moves a sled motor in outer circumference direction(340). The system turns on a servo control routine, and executes a normal tracking servo/focus control process(350).
