<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material utilizable as an optical wavelength changing material or an optical phase shifting material. SOLUTION: The optical material comprises an inorganic compound and has a polyacid ion as a constituent element and the molecular structure of the polyacid ion is asymmetric based on the center. The polyacid ion exhibits nonlinearity. The optical material may comprise a thermally and mechanically stable polyacid ion and can ensure performance adapted to the purpose for which it is used by the control of the molecular size, structure, etc., as compared with inorganic and organic materials used so far.</p> |
