The milling roll has cutting plates (3) arranged in spiral rows on the circumference of a roll body (1) with chip grooves (2). Several such rolls can be fitted end to end, linking them by complementary locking shapes (7, 8) so that the spiral rows of plates are continuous. The cutting plates of the successive rows are circumferentially axially positioned on the interstices.
