Method for processing a metallic workpiece (2) made from a metallic material other than brass comprises burnishing a surface section of the workpiece to form a processed surface section (3) using electric polishing and/or chemical brightening, rinsing with a fluid and drying, and applying a lacquer (4) to form a partially transparent lacquer layer (5) in a partial region of a surface section.
