Method for operating a gas boiler comprises igniting and burning a gas/air mixture in a burner arranged in a combustion chamber, detecting the ionization stream in the flame, and passing the combustion gas to a heat exchanger and feeding as exhaust gas to an exhaust gas system. Dropping of the ionization stream during operation by a specified amount greater than the operation-induced variations of the ionization stream is evaluated as a sign of the onset of system-induced, self-regulating vibrations (rumbling). A change in the load and/or air ratio is carried out as a counter-measure. Preferred Features: Counter-measures include a short-term increase or reduction in load and changing the load by temporarily switching the boiler off and then on again. |
