PURPOSE: A shift register, a driver for an active matrix apparatus, and an active matrix apparatus are provided to increase an integration of a panel region by reducing a size of a substrate of the shift register. CONSTITUTION: A shift register includes a plurality of X stages(31 - 35) having outputs and Y clock inputs. An x is an integer larger than 3 while an Y is an integer larger than 2. An x-th stage includes flip-flops and logic circuits configured to receive a set enable signal from an output from an (x-1)th stage. An (nY+y)th stage is set in response to one of a first level or a leading edge of a clock signal from an y-th clock input, and is configured to be reset in response to one of a second level of a clock signal of the y-th clock input or a trailing edge.
