PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to reduce wide-range flicker phenomenon by varying a pulse width and the number of driving waveform according to the change of a frame frequency. CONSTITUTION: A data driver(48) drives an address electrode(X) of a plasma display panel. A scan/sustain driver(51) drives a scan electrode(Y) of the plasma display panel. A common sustain driver(52) drives a sustain electrode(Z) of the plasma display panel. A mode detector(49) detects a mode of an inputted image signal. A timing controller(47) controls a driving timing of the plasma display panel. A gamma compensator(41), an automatic gain controller(42), an error diffuser(43), a sub-field mapping unit(44), a frame memory(45), and a data arranging unit(46) are provided. The data driver includes plural data drive ICs(Integrated Circuits). Each IC is connected to the predetermined number of address electrodes under the control of the timing controller to supply data to a corresponding address electrode. |
