<p>PURPOSE: Provided is a sliding element for seals, which has excellent hardness and wear-resistance as well as solid lubrication characteristics. CONSTITUTION: The sliding element for seals is manufactured by the steps of: blending main components containing 25-75 wt% of carbonaceous micropowdered aggregates of non-graphitizing carbon and/or graphitizing carbon and 20-50 wt% of a synthetic resin as a binder with 5-25 wt% of surface-untreated carbonaceous carbon fibers, followed by mixing, molding, and firing. The produced sliding element has a feature in that carbon fibers are randomly dispersed in carbon matrix.</p> |
