PURPOSE: A contents transfer device transferring contents managed by a contents management server to a terminal and a method for controlling contents transfer are provided to change the contents obtained from the contents management server depending on time, and change the content and a size of the contents depending on a type and a capacity of a communication line between the server and the terminal. CONSTITUTION: A transmitting/receiving unit(21) transmits/receives data from the transmitting/receiving unit(31). A contents database(27) temporarily stores the data obtained by the transmitting/receiving unit. An accepting unit(26) accepts transfer information for transferring the contents selected by an operating command of a user. A contents transfer controller(22) obtains a contents header associated with time information from the contents management server(30). A display unit(23) displays the contents obtained by the contents transfer controller depending on the operating command of the user. A contents size changing unit(25) changes the size of the contents depending on the capacity of the communication line(10).
