PURPOSE: A method is provided to increase the compensating range of a negative cross by controlling turns of the coma coil mounted on the coil separator of a deflection yoke. CONSTITUTION: A method is characterized in that the negative cross of a deflection yoke is compensated by controlling turns of a coma coil(10) having a double structure including a primary coil(11) and a secondary coil(12). In cases where the negative cross is large, turns of the primary coil of the coma coil decrease and turns of the secondary coil of the coma coil increase. In cases where the negative cross is small, turns of the primary coil of the coma coil increase and turns of the secondary coil of the coma coil decrease.
