PURPOSE: A vehicle navigation apparatus and a program thereof are provided to perform a route guidance favorable to a user by making a predetermined layer of map data variable. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle navigation apparatus includes a registration member(11), a determination member(12), a route search member(13), and a control member(4). The registration member registers a place of departure, a destination, and a route traveled by vehicle. The determination member determines whether the place of departure and the destination inputted respectively are the same as the place of departure and the destination of the registered route. An input place of departure and input destination are same as a place of departure and destination of a registered route by the determination member, the route search member reads route information of a predetermined layer from leveled roads consisting registered routes, and searches for a route by lowering a weight on the route search. The control member performs a route guidance searched by the route search member. The predetermined layer is variable according to a distance between the place of departure and the destination.
